Kitchen Tool I Actually Use
I often get asked what kitchen gadgets I use, and while there are plenty of tools available, there's one that I reach for almost every single day. It's not expensive, it's not flashy, but it's honestly one I couldn't be without.
A small stepped palette knife or offset spatula!

Small stepped palette knife or spatula.
Most people think of palette knives as something just for icing cakes, but mine gets used for so much more than that.
I use it for spreading, lifting delicate foods without breaking them, straightening ingredients that have moved out of place, and making tiny adjustments to platters that would be difficult with my fingers. If a garnish needs nudging just a few millimetres, or a sandwich needs lifting without squashing it, the palette knife is usually the first tool I reach for.
It's one of those little tools that quietly makes food presentation easier.
In fact, if you've watched many of my videos, you've probably seen it in action without even realising it!

One of the things I love most is the stepped design. The handle sits higher than the blade making it much easier to work close to the food without your hand getting in the way. It gives you better control, especially when you're trying to keep a platter looking neat.
If you've never used a stepped palette knife before, I'd encourage you to give one a try. Once you start using it, you'll probably find yourself reaching for it far more often than you expected.
If you're looking for one the same style that I use, you'll find it in the online shop on my website.
Happy plating,
