Elderflower Cordial
Homemade Elderflower cordial.

This delicious elderflower cordial is so easy to make at home. It has a delicate sweetness with citrus and floral notes, and is a perfect refreshment on a warm summer day. If you can get your hands on some elderflower blooms you're most of the way there to making a delicious cordial.

It's perfect added to water or sparkling water, add it to cocktails, or even use it as a syrup over a dessert!

Ingredients:

Makes approximately 1.5 Litres.

  • 15 elderflower heads
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 25g (2 tablespoons) citric acid
  • 1.25lt (5 cups) water, boiled and cooled a little
  • 500g (2 1/2 cups) sugar

Method:

  • Put the elderflower heads into a large pot.
  • Add the lemon slices.
  • Pour over the water and leave to steep over night.
  • Strain the liquid into a clean pot.
  • Add the sugar and citric acid and gently bring to the boil.
  • Simmer for a couple of minutes.
  • Pour into sterilised bottles.
  • Serve cooled and diluted with water or soda water. Enjoy!
