This posh porridge, also known as oatmeal bowls, turn a simple breakfast staple into something worthy of slow mornings and beautiful plating. Creamy oats are served with a selection of customisable toppings that add colour, texture and flavour, making each bowl feel fresh and a little bit special.

Whether you prefer fruit, nuts, yoghurt or something sweet, this is an easy base you can dress up however you like - simple, nourishing and effortlessly impressive.

Ingredients

Makes 2 servings

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 cups water, milk, or a mix of both (including dairy alternatives)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  • Bring the water or milk to a boil in a small saucepan.
  • Add the oats and turn the heat down to medium.
  • Stir, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  • When the porridge is cooked, turn off the heat, cover with a lid, and leave to sit for a few minutes.
  • Fluff and serve warm.
