Hello Food Lovers,

It's often the smallest additions or tweaks to your food that make the biggest difference. Today I'm referring to a well placed spoonful of chutney or relish.

When added to sandwiches, canapés or finger foods, they bring rich colour, a burst of flavour, and that extra element that elevates even the simplest dishes.

The best part about them is:

  • Make your food look more vibrant
That pop of a rich coloured relish or a golden fruity chutney adds visual interest and makes everything feel more abundant and thoughtfully put together.
  • They're surprisingly easy to make at home
You can use fresh, canned, dried or frozen fruit and vegetables to make these so you can always have some on hand no matter which season.
  • They add instant flavour to so many different dishes
Sandwiches, wraps, crackers, stews and stir fry style dishes can all be instantly elevated by the addition of a chutney or relish.
  • They're incredibly versatile
You can serve them on the side, dollop them onto a platter, or layer them into wraps, burgers and sandwiches for extra flavour.

If you would like to try making your own, here are two of my favourite recipes:

Or you can watch me make them on an older video here:

Chutneys and relishes can completely transform a plate, they add colour, texture, and a punch of flavour that brings everything together.

Sometimes it's just about adding one small element that makes everything else shine, and in this case I always find a well placed spoonful of chutney or relish does the trick.

I'd love to hear if you've made your own chutney or relish before and what your favourite flavours are 😄

Happy cooking,
Taryn
